Today

saw us doing some crazy things...like voting! Since we are a single car family, we were home and Jeff mobile. So, we had a plan. We stayed in and slept till we awoke on our own. Kai was up first, no surprise there, and Kade was up last. We had a leisurely full morning. Kade did some building lego mini-cons to go with our transformer toys.

He had them all worked up to be real transformers so they had their robot mode and vehicle mode. Kai was into Dragon Ball Z, so watched some and then played some on the Wii. I was preparing for the voting day and checking out the web. Around 1 we got our clothes on and started talking about how we wanted to get to the polling place. First, they thought of biking.

However, we took Kade's bike to park day yesterday and it was still in the trunk of the car...with Dad. Then we thought we would ride the scooters...forgetting we only brought the unbroken one from TN when we moved. Then, Kai wanted to roller blade and Kade wanted to skate on his spiderman shoes. Cool.

After 2 trips down to the storage room and one back up to get socks, we were off. Kade made it to the gate and decided to put his wheels back in and just walk in the cool shoes. Kai made it to the end of the street and decided to change into his shoes. Both were very happy to be able to make the decisions themselves.

I'm proud of them for trying to skate on hard surfaces when they have only skated inside on the rug! I remember the difference in feeling and speed and balance to be huge. While walking, we talked about a plan to get everyone comfortable in stages to then be able to skate about downstairs. We also talked a lot about the election.

They asked great questions. They saw signs along the way and asked about those measures. We didn't have far to walk and thankfully there was no line at the polling booths. We were in and out in minutes. They both snagged the "I voted" stickers on the way out the door. I loved that Kai put his solidly on his shirt.

Kade put his on his voice box! I had already put mine on my shirt when I saw his...and was sorry...for what better place to put it than there? Kai then put his on his eye and was a voting pirate! We crossed over the the AM/PM and got them a slushy for the walk home.

After a slow and very talkative walk home, the boys were even willing to listen to the news station...all day long. Neither one asked to have the channel changed until after the election was called. Both were pretty good about waiting to get stuff until there was a break in the coverage.

Pretty cool kids, I say. Pretty informative day. I know for sure that Kai will remember this one. Kade maybe not. He could surprise us all and know more about it than we do in a few years!

OH, I almost forgot...I finished the socks and started some others. A bit smaller you say? Well, of course! They are the D'ster! He's gonna be 7 weeks old soon.
